GGS-Spectrum to present on seismic reprocessing at Eage

GGS-Spectrum, the provider of advanced seismic data processing and multi-client surveys, announced today that it will be presenting a technical paper on 14th June as part of EAGE 2007 in London, England. The paper will focus on the application of Straight Ray Datuming (SRD) seismic reprocessing.

Tariq Alkhalifah, GGS-Spectrum Technical Associate will present a paper coauthored with UK-based Geo-scientists Henk Innemee and Chris Benson on 14th June, 10:30am Lecture Room 5. Tariq will review SRD’s seismic processing applications, and its ability to correct for time distortions in the weathering layer around lateral variations of the weathering elastic parameters. SRD has both land survey and deep water seismic survey applications around the world.

Roger Oldfield, GGS-Spectrum's UK DP Manager comments: “SRD is a technique that can be used either as an alternative or as a supplement to conventional statics seismic applications. The utilisation of SRD for our clients' reprocessing needs means that GGS-Spectrum can compensate for near surface velocity variations that cannot be resolved with conventional refraction static techniques. This results in improved imaging throughout the section.”

To date GGS-Spectrum has reprocessed both land and marine survey data using its servers in Woking, UK, Houston, Texas and Cairo, Egypt, and completed a number of multi-client reprocessing studies. In early 2007 GGS-Spectrum added offshore seismic acquisition to its product mix with the commissioning of an Atlantic seismic survey, and in March 2007 started a multi-client reprocessing study of vintage Norland VI and VII data for offshore Norway.

GGS-Spectrum currently offers a complete suite of seismic processing tools using a powerful combination of Geocenter's SeisUP™ software and GGS-Spectrum’s proprietary SPA software package.
